Q Q. What costs are involved in implementing MAREWA-SYSTEM?
The App-Only Plan consists of a one-time onboarding fee and a monthly subscription fee.
The onboarding fee covers the system setup and configuration required for your vessel’s specifications.
Q What types of engines and vessels can MAREWA-SYSTEM be used with?
Q Do smaller vessels need to collect data from all 61 points, or can the system be installed with fewer sensors?
MAREWA-SYSTEM can collect data from up to 61 points. Collecting data from more points provides a more comprehensive view of the engine’s overall condition and allows the system to more effectively support early anomaly detection, root cause identification, and recommended corrective actions.
We will recommend the most suitable number of data points based on your requirements, budget, and desired level of monitoring.
We can propose the optimal system configuration for your vessel, so please feel free to contact us for an initial consultation.
Q Can MAREWA-SYSTEM be installed on older vessels, or is it only intended for newbuilds?
Q What equipment and infrastructure are required to use MAREWA-SYSTEM?
- Satellite communications or an internet connection, if the vessel will be monitored remotely from shore
- The necessary wiring, including connections between the sensors and data logger, as well as LAN cables
- Sensors installed on the engine and other onboard equipment
- Control equipment, such as an onboard industrial PC and data logger
Q Can you also supply the hardware and carry out the installation work?
Costs will vary depending on the scope of support required. For further information, please feel free to contact us at development.kagoodockyard@kg3.jp.
Q How is the data transmitted?
Q Which languages does the system support?
Q What support is available after implementation?
Customers outside Japan can also receive support through our Singapore office.
We use the same point of contact for all inquiries. Please feel free to email us at development.kagoodockyard@kg3.jp and the appropriate member of our team will assist you depending on the nature of your inquiry.
Q Is MAREWA-SYSTEM currently in use, and what feedback have you received from users?
Vessel owners and crew members have told us that they feel reassured knowing that the condition of their vessels can also be monitored from shore.
We also believe that MAREWA-SYSTEM benefits not only vessel owners and crew members, but also vessel management companies and those involved in vessel maintenance and repair. By making it easier to share information and respond quickly, the system creates additional value for everyone involved.
We have also received feedback that adopting advanced digital technology can help attract younger crew members and strengthen a company’s brand image.
Q Can you share any results or examples of how MAREWA-SYSTEM has been used?
On a deep-sea tuna longline fishing vessel, the engine oil pressure remained low for two to three days. The vessel contacted us because the crew believed that they might need to return to port to have the engine inspected.
Our engineers reviewed the trends in the data collected by MAREWA-SYSTEM and determined that a clogged oil filter was the most likely cause.
We informed the vessel of our findings and asked the crew to inspect the oil filter. The inspection revealed carbon buildup on the filter. After the carbon was removed, the oil pressure returned to normal, allowing the issue to be resolved at sea.
As a result, the vessel was able to continue its fishing operations and voyage as usual, avoiding both a return to port and the significant opportunity losses that would have resulted from the interruption and repair work.
By supporting the early detection of engine abnormalities and enabling a prompt response, MAREWA-SYSTEM helps reduce the risk of serious breakdowns and accidents and supports safer, more reliable voyages.
Q How is MAREWA-SYSTEM different from other monitoring systems?
Some systems use predicted data or footage from cameras installed in the engine room for monitoring. However, vessel movement and other conditions while underway can limit the information that these systems are able to obtain.
MAREWA-SYSTEM collects data directly from sensors installed on individual pieces of equipment, providing a more comprehensive view of the engine’s overall condition.
The system also incorporates the ship repair expertise we have developed over more than 50 years. Through AI-powered root cause identification and recommended corrective actions, MAREWA-SYSTEM helps maintain the safe and reliable operation of the entire engine room.
